Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • Flexible tape measure
  • 1/2 inch satin ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Tulle

    • 1
Wrap a tape measure around the baby's lower waist to obtain the size. The lower waist is between the waist and hip area, just at the edge of the diaper. Add 15 inches to the waist size measurement.
    • 2
Measure and cut a piece of ribbon according to the measurement. Lay the ribbon on a flat surface and measure inward 10 inches from one end. Tie a knot in the ribbon at this point. Repeat for the opposite side. The area between the knots will hold the tulle.
    • 3
Hold the tape measure at the edge of the ribbon and measure downward to your preference. This will be the length of the skirt. Double the measurement. Roll the tulle on a flat surface and cut the tulle into strips according to the measurement by 3 inches wide. For instance, most newborn tutus will reach to the knees. Cut the tulle 8 inches by 3 inches.
    • 4
Fold one tulle strip in half. Wrap the folded end of the tulle around the ribbon and pull the long tulle end through the middle of the folded end, forming a type of knot around the ribbon. Pull snug to secure the tulle to the ribbon. Slide the tulle next to one of the knots. Repeat the tulle process until the entire area between the two knots is completely filled.
    • 5
Wrap the waistband around the lower waist of the newborn. Tie the tutu onto the lower waist using the additional ribbon at the end of the waistband. Trim the ends of the ribbon at an angle to prevent fraying
Use fray check for ends of ribbons or a lighter ,professionals only thankyou!
As Usual I use ehow instructions so u can have every detail on how to complete your Projects.

Pillow Case Dress

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • Pillowcase
  • Thread in a complementary color
  • 1 yard of rickrack (optional)
  • Two 6-inch elastics
  • Two 10-inch ribbons
    • 1
Wash, starch and iron the pillowcase.
    • 2
Measure the desired length of the dress, beginning at the girl's collarbone. The wide hem of the pillowcase will be the bottom of the dress with this dress pattern. Make a pencil or chalk line on the pillowcase to reflect the desired length plus 1 inch.
    • 3
Mark cutting lines for the armholes, shaped like the letter "J" on the left side of the dress and a backward "J" on the right side of the dress. These should be 3 to 4 inches deep, depending on the size of the child. (This is a sleeveless dress.)
    • 4
Fold and press both sides of the top (neck) part of the pillowcase 1/4 inch from the top and again at 3/4 inches.
    • 5
Stitch along the first fold to make a casing for the elastic; the casing should be like a tunnel.
    • 6
Thread 6 inches of elastic through each casing and secure the ends with a safety pin temporarily. Stitch across the ends of each casing to hold the elastic in place. It will gather and form a neckline.
    • 7
Fold, press and pin the arm holes using the ribbon as binding. The ends of the ribbon will extend past the edges of the armholes to be tied at the shoulders.
    • 8
      Sew the seam.
Only difference with my dress is that i made it from scratch it was never a pillowcase but i will post vintage pillowcase dresses very soon thankyou! And remember Happy crafting!
